  • Agnes Baer, DVM

    Agnes was born in Poland and raised in Edmonton. She attended the University of Alberta and the Western College of Veterinary Medicine graduating in 1998. She has an extensive background in primary care and emergency medicine. She has also filled the role of volunteer shelter veterinarian with the Wildlife Rehabilitation Society of Edmonton. Agnes spends her spare time at the gym, but her favorite spot is out in her garden. She is currently 'trying' to learn how to crochet. She and Marty have a blended family of five children and two dogs (Charlie & Rylie).

  • Martin Baer BSc, DVM
    Marty was born and raised in Whitehorse. He attended the University of Saskatchewan and the University of Western Ontario finishing a BSc. in Physiology and DVM from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1990. He has practiced in Victoria, Edmonton and Calgary as an owner and clinician in both wellness and Emergency Veterinary practices. He was one of the founding partners of the Emergency service within the Western Veterinary Specialist Centre in Calgary. In his spare time Marty is an avid golfer in the summer and hockey player in the winter. He has a love of music and can be found working around the house to the music of Keith Jarret, or playing one of his many guitars.
  • Erin Parchello BSc, DVM
    Erin was born in British Columbia and raised in Saskatchewan. Erin graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine in 1999. After graduating, she moved to the United Kingdom where she worked until her return to Canada in 2006. Souvenirs from her life in the UK included her husband, two children, her Border Terrier (Mr. Beans) and her cat (Frank). Upon her return to Canada, she accepted a position at the Western Veterinary Specialist and Emergency Centre here in Calgary, where she met Marty and Agnes. She is excited to be working and collaborating with them again. In her spare time she enjoys swimming, cycling and travelling with her family.
  • Janine Vander Pol BSc, DVM

    Dr. Vander Pol was born in Calgary but raised in Victoria, BC. She graduated from the University of Victoria with a
    Bachelor of Science in 1994.  In 1999, she graduated from the Western College of Veterinary Medicine where she was a friend and classmate of Dr. Parchello. Dr. Vander Pol enjoys small animal medicine cases and preventative medicine.  When not practicing veterinary medicine, Dr. Vander Pol, her husband and two sons enjoy traveling to Arizona, doing obstacle course races and cycling.

  • Kelly, RVT
    Kelly, one of our Registered Veterinary Technologists, joined Cranston Veterinary Hospital in 2013. After a decade of working in the financial sector, Kelly pursued a new career and graduated with honors from the Animal Health Technology program at Olds College in 2010. Kelly is client-service focused and excels at assisting our veterinarians with anesthesia and dentistry medicine. She takes pride in providing the best care, advice and compassion for our patients and clientele. Kelly enjoys hiking and running with her four-legged best friend, Marley the Labradoodle.
  • Shelly, RVT
    Shelly is a Registered Animal Health Technologist who has been with us since 2015. She grew up on a small farm outside of Vegreville Alberta and has been an animal lover all her life. Cranston Veterinary Hospital is very lucky to have Shelly, drawing on her deep care for animals, patience and her background in emergency, laboratory services and veterinary general practice. Shelly lives on an acreage with her 2 horses and 8 cats including Cranston Veterinary Hospital's former resident cat -'Owen'. Although she currently does not have any dogs, Shelly has a special fondness for large goofy dogs.
  • Janna, RVT
    Janna was born and raised in Montreal, Quebec where she graduated from the Animal Health Technology program from CEGEP Vanier in 1998. After moving to Calgary, she started at Cranston Veterinary Hospital in 2009 just after its inception. Janna has a special interest and experience in animal behaviour and training. In her spare time she trains and competes in formal obedience competitions with her dogs, Rumour and Stitch. When she is not here at the clinic, she enjoys playing ringette, spending time with her family, cheering on her favorite hockey team, the Montreal Canadians, and spends time trying to keep her cat Reuben out of trouble.
  • Jennifer, RVT

    Jennifer graduated in 2004 from Olds College Animal Health Technology program and has enjoyed being a practicing Veterinary Technician in primary care ever since. Jennifer believes that primary care veterinary medicine is the best way to help pet owners and their pets live the best and most enriched life together through education and preventative health care. She is a born and raised Alberta city slicker but her heart lies in exploring the great outdoors with her family and friends, enjoying hiking, backpacking and camping. Jennifer spends most of her time doting over her furkids Emma and Murphy, and is an active member of Sniff Alberta where her Retriever cross Emma excels at the new and upcoming sport of canine nosework. 

  • Marlo, Client Care
    Marlo was born in a small town in Manitoba and was raised on a farm until moving to Calgary. She grew up in the veterinary industry, starting at the age of 16 and has worked in all aspects of the clinic. Marlo's love of animals combined with her positive attitude makes her a great addition to the Cranston team.
